Successfully took ownership and permissions for registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-o..achine-ui.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_en-us_68d2909d7d762ef5\v!6.1.7600.16385. I can't install updates on Windows 8. I have tried all the usual Microsoft help tips to no avail.  It just loads everything (all 7 of the important updates) and then says " update failed".  Great Should have Again search for c:\windows\system32\catroot2    folder and open it. check my blog
