Yikes!Error 1068 at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827328Indicates it's a dependancy problem. My problem is that the Smart Card Resource Manager service is set to automatic, but it will not start. Please do not go anywhere else looking for a solution, the wrong move here could mean having to format and reinstall.
