I got it. and don't worry, the folder is there if you were affected by the update; the lengthy numbered folders aren't specific to Richard's machine; they are on yours too. Fyi, I moved the "linkCreation.dotm" file from the "Word" folder to the folder immediately above it, the "Startup" folder in Richard's post above. Please try again later.

I still had "Mendeley-word2016-1.16-dev2.dot" in there. Since I updated to Word version 15.24 recently, when I either start up or quit Word, I get the error describe: "compiler error in hidden module: link". Thank you! This is usually located at /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office365/User Content/Startup/Word. Inside the above Word folder I found a new file (dated 30 Jun 16) called "linkCreation.dotm".
